Dear Mrs. Kang Kum-sil,
in September, the German professor Dr. Du-Yul Song was
arrested at the airport of Seoul when he returned to Korea for
the first time since 37 years. He came to Korea because he had
been invited by the university of Pusan to award him an
honorary doctorate of this university. The Secret Service NIS
cross-examined him several days. As I know, his lawyer was not
allowed to speak during the interrogations and to contact
Prof. Song longer than just a few minutes each day. If these
informations are correct, the proceedings are definitely
inconsistent with the international standards.
Besides other things, he is accused of being identical with
the number 23 in the Politburo of North Korea Kim Chol Su, an
accusation which was already dismissed by a court in Seoul
four years ago.
Therefore I ask you respectfully:
1. Why is the just mentioned accusation revived now: Are there
any new facts which have been found during the last years?
Which are these new findings?
2. Is it true that the lawyer was hindered in respect to his
work for Prof. Song during the interrogations by the Secret
Service NIS and also last week?
For your answers I thank you very much in advance.
Sincerely yours,
Hans Buchner
